In 2016, Shawn pioneered a radical shift in the way anxiety is addressed and treated in West Michigan. The Anxiety Treatment Center of West Michigan became the first practice in the state of Michigan to change from symptom-based anxiety treatment to adaptation-based anxiety treatment. Shawn uses evidence-based psychotherapy and a structured anxiety therapy system called Adaptive Anxiety Therapy to help clients become better adapted to their anxiety by modifying harmful thinking & behavioral patterns. As clients become better adapted to their anxiety they experience an increase in quality of life.
